Long Drive To The Dispensary? How To Get The Most Out Of Your Trip

by Irene Bradley

Dispensaries are becoming more common as more states legalize marijuana for medicinal purposes. However, there are still not dispensaries in every town. If you are a medical marijuana patient with no dispensary near you, then you might be facing a 2, 3, or even 4-hour drive to pick up your medicine. You might as well make that long trip to the dispensary worthwhile! Here's how to get more out of the visit.

Visit mid-morning, if possible.

It might mean getting up really early, but if possible, you should try to arrive at the dispensary mid-morning. This way, there won't be as many people in the store. Those stopping on their way to work will have already left, and you'll beat the crowd that stops by on their lunch break. With the store less busy, you can spend more time looking around and get more direct attention from the employees.

Talk to the staff; that's why they're there.

The staff at dispensaries are there to do more than just cash you out! They're called budtenders. They are educated on the products they sell, and many are more than excited to share their knowledge. Ask them any questions you have about marijuana, the best strains, how to use it, etc.

Have a general idea of what strains you are interested in.

While it's totally okay to visit the dispensary as a newbie and rely on the budtenders for advice, you'll get more out of the experience if you do at least a little research beforehand. Look up the strains that the dispensary carries, and have an idea of which ones you're most interested in. This allows you to focus your conversation with the budtenders on those strains and get more specific information about what you may need.

Ask about any specials.

Sometimes specials are prominently advertised at a dispensary, but other times, they are not. Ask the budtender what the specials are. You might be able to pick up some extra medicine at an amazing price, which will make your long drive feel worthwhile.

Buy a few unique items to try out.

Try to go home with at least one unique item. That could be a new flavor of candy, a gram of a different strain you've never had before, or a stronger vape cartridge than you're used to. Bringing home something unique will make sure you got something extra out of the dispensary visit.

If you're going to drive all of the way to a dispensary, you might as well make the experience worth the time in the car. Contact a dispensary for more information.
